Customer needs: Full access was required to the top of this house for a whole new roof to be fitted on this large detached 2 story Worthing property.
Difficulties we faced: Access to all four sides of this property was pretty straight forward and we were able to park directly outside the house to easily offload our equipment. We had no difficulties when erecting this scaffolding as the area was mostly free of plants, trees, and obstacles in the way. Our scaffolders who erected this just needed to be aware of the telephone lines on the right-hand side of the house when standing up the 21ft tube and moving them around that area, making sure that they did not damage the wires.
What we did: We built a “wrap around scaffold” which basically means erecting a scaffolding around all four sides of a property. This particular scaffold consisted of three lifts, with the first two lifts not having boards placed on them as they were not being used as working platforms, but the third lift was fully boarded with toe boards and double handrails for fall protection, plus a scaffold ladder with access point which was situated to the left-hand side of the building. This working lift was placed at gutter height just below the roof line so that the roofers could safely and easily work on and around the area. We braced inwards on every other inside standard on the bottom lift and braced outwards on the top 2 lifts to ensure the scaffold structure was completely sturdy and fully supported.
Hire period: This particular scaffolding project was booked in for four weeks hire, which gave the client plenty of time to put a new roof on, despite some rainy days during this period.
