Linear metre:
Our approx. linear metre rate is £16-£25 for the first 3 lifts but the cost will increase the higher the scaffolds go, and this is because as the structure gets taller the longer it takes to pass our equipment up to install the lifts.
Square metre rate:
Our square metre cost of scaffolding is usually within the range of £8-£25+ per sqm for birdcages but as stated above our sqm rate will be more expensive the taller the structure is.
Scaffolds are not USUALLY priced on a day rate. They are normally charged on a metre rate or the time it will take to put up, which will be dependent on the height, length, and duration the structure is needed for. So unfortunately, we as company we do not normally provide a day rate.
A bungalow scaffold its normally used for gaining access to the gable ends and apex’s of the property, and this can be for painting, repointing and repair works or replacing soffits and facias. A bungalow scaffolding can also be used for roofing works, access to dormer windows or a new loft conversion. Our guide pricing for a single lift on a bungalow is below:
This scaffolding is generally required to the side or the rear of a property and is used to gain safe access over a conservatory or lean-to without bearing weight on the structure underneath.
This beamed platform would give you access to your windows, soffits, facias, and guttering. If you required a further lift to access the roof of your property, then this would potentially cost extra.
The cost of this scaffolding will depend on the type of property you have e.g., a bungalow will cost less than a 2-storey house. Also, our hire prices may vary depending on where the chimney is located and where you require the access, so up to the base of the chimney will cost less than a ‘saddle’ around all four sides of the stack. Chimney scaffolds are usually required for repointing works, installing a new flue, repairing a leak or chimney removal. Below are some rough guide prices:
A 2-lift scaffold is mainly required for access to windows, soffit and facias, gutter works, repointing, rendering, painting, and cladding on 2-storey houses and consists of two working platforms both with double handrails for fall protection. Our scaffolding hire costs per side are below (approximate):
This structure will usually be 3 lifts high to gutter height on a 2-storey building with the top lift fully boarded. This will allow you access for roofing works, repairs and maintenance, solar panel installation, dormer window access and for loft conversions. Our approx. scaffolding hire costs:
Smaller scaffolding towers are ideal for accessing flues, loose masonry, roof tiles, guttering, lead flashing, bay window access, roof inspections, replacing down pipes, painting and repairs, window access or just for reaching an apex. Our temporary roof coverings can differ greatly in price, and this is due to the size of the structure, the equipment needed plus the time it takes to erect them. When hiring a tin hat scaffold from ourselves, it will consist of full scaffolding around and above your building with a weatherproof covering on top using corrugated roofing sheets. Our temporary roof hire costs include wrapping the structure with Monarflex sheeting. Our prices for this type of structure will depend on how many lifts are required, because if the loft conversion or dormer windows are situated just above the gutter line then you would need fewer scaffolding lifts to be installed whereas if the dormer/loft conversion is situated further up the roof, then extra lifts may need to be erected so the cost would increase. There are many considerations we have to think about when providing a hire quotation for a scaffold and these can make a difference to our prices:
Location – What area is your property based?
How high is your property – Generally most houses are two, three or four storeys high. So, the taller the property is the more the cost will increase, and this is because the higher we build the scaffold the longer it will take our scaffolders to erect.
How many working levels required – Again this is dependent on the type of work taking place and how tall the property is. Also, will every level need to be fully boarded? How high do you need the platforms to be as different trades have different requirements.
Duration of scaffolding hire – How long will you need the scaffolding for? As standard we offer our customers a four week hire period however, we know some works may take longer than this, so we are always happy to negotiate an agreed period when quoting anything longer than the standard four weeks. Also, if you go over your agreed scaffold hire period you will be charged additional hire which is generally priced at approx. 5-10% per week of the original price quoted.
Council permits – Some properties where there isn’t private land for the scaffold to be placed on will require a pavement licence for the duration of the scaffold hire. We will apply for this on your behalf and factor in this cost within our quotation. We are unable to detail here the exact costs for this as each council charges different rates.
