Scaffold hire for general repairs and maintenance work at a property in Daltons Place, Arundel. Cost - £250.

Scaffold platform for repairs, Daltons Place, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18
8ft return scaffold, Daltons Place, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 2

Service type:  Domestic scaffold hire.

Address: Daltons Place, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18.

Customer needs: We were contacted by this client because they required a scaffold to access the rear of a 2-storey, semi-detached property for general repair works. It was a simple structure with one lift and a very small section over a conservatory on the side of the property. We charged our client scaffolding costs of £250 with four weeks hire included. We are able to keep the price low for a scaffold like this because they do not use up a lot of our equipment and also do not take too long to put up. These type of domestic working platforms are very common for us to build for general maintenance and repair works.

Difficulties we faced: There were no issues with this scaffold as it was a very straight forward access structure. All we were required to do was to take extra care when erecting the small return to the gable end as there was a glass roof conservatory below.

What we did: This access scaffold was approximately 21ft long, which spanned the full length of the rear of this semi-detached house. We erected a single lift to sit just above the ground floor windows and doors which allowed enough room for our client to reach the areas they needed on that level. This working platform was made 5 scaffold boards wide and included double handrail and toe boards for fall protection. We installed ladder access to the right-hand side end of the structure.

Our client also required a small section of scaffold to be returned around the gable end of the property so they could complete some repair work to that area. We installed an 8ft return to allow access, however this was only two boards wide as only a small working area was needed for some very minor works. Guard rails and toe boards were also installed to this section. This return was placed over a glass conservatory, so none of our equipment was allowed to bear any weight on to it, so we ‘spurred’ up this part of the scaffolding to provide extra sturdiness to the structure. This is a classic example of our domestic scaffolds for homeowners – safe platforms for repairs, maintenance, gutters, painting, or extensions, with minimal disruption and 4 weeks’ hire included as standard.

Hire period: As mentioned above we provided our client with four weeks hire as standard within our price. However, the repair works did not take the full hire period. We were able to come back a week later and dismantle this structure.
